There is much reflection at year end and discussion not only of the best horses of the year but also of the decade. The horses that have excited us and been memorable are easy choices. There are others on my list that I feel are deserving of being here for several reasons.

Although accomplished on the track Curlin begins life now in a real race...that of proving himself quickly and, in some ways, impossibly by producing better than himself. However, he's off to a good start with breeding the first mare, Maggy Hawk. This would be an exciting foal.

on was the same for winning a million dollar competition as he did in his lone off the board start. Curlin has little use for the things people value.He's got a fan website of GoCurlin.com and the son of Smart Strike out of Sherriff's Deputy by Deputy Minister was named for soldier, coal miner and farmer Charles
