ng center forehead he'll be the latest in Dynaformer - La Ville Rouge babies, the first of whom was Barbaro. Nicanor, now 3, had an injury in the first start; a two year old Lentenor is in training in Florida. She'll be bred back, of course, to Dynaformer.

eatedly call attention to a horse that's gone down and still do his job, which is calling the race. Barbaro's breakdown in the Preakness got less attention from Tom Durkin during the run of that race than Denman's phony announcement about Nakatani's horse taking a tumble on Jockeys. "Nakatani and his horse are down! Nakatani and his horse are down!" Meantime I guess the rest of the field was surging towards the quarter pole unremarked.

Talk about anti-climactic. I feel badly for this lovely horse, and I hope both the media and the Barbaro fans forgive him. It's not Nicano's job to "finish Barbaro's story."  We don't now how

Even with the best of preparation things can go wrong. Nicanor, the full brother to Barbaro now 3 years old, started for the first time today and grabbed a quarter after stumbling at the start. It means more time to heal and as he did not start at two underscores it is not an age thing - injuries happen.

Today, three days after the second anniversary of Barbaro's death, Barbaro's full brother goes in a maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park.  Gulfstream's given this event a marquee spot, sandwiched between two important stakes races - the Holy Bull for three year olds on the Derby trail, and the Donn Handicap for top flight older horses.  I have a good feeling about Nicanor, who has come on in his training the past few weeks, but with
