Kara Schroeder's Horse Racing Fan Profile

Not your typical racing fan, I grew up watching the Triple Crown, and was hooked for life when I got to meet John Henry at the Kentucky Horse Park. Since then, I've followed racing closer every year, mostly watching HRTV like a madwoman and heading to the track a few times a year. I strive to learn all I can about bloodlines, not just for their influence on racing ability, but for promoting longevity and soundness, and for their influence on the quality of a sporthorse career after a horses' racing days are done.
I'm a staunch supporter of making racing safer, of thoroughbred retirement organizations and of quality owners and trainers who do right by each and every horse both during and after they are useful at the track.
And I'm a firm believer that there is nothing so beautiful as the racetrack bathed in the first light of the morning, horses steaming from a bullet work, and trainers sipping on coffee, holding papers and a stopwatch.
