Predict the order of finish for the 2009 Kentucky Derby

Fill out how you think the Kentucky Derby will finish, in order. Here are the rules

All entriest must be received by Saturday, April 2, by 9:00 A.M., with no edits after that time, in order to qualify.

Scratches will merely be eliminated from your order of finish. Don't worry about them.

You may make comments about your selections. You don't have to.

Each placement will receive positive or negative points, or break even, if the horse you select for that placement is exactly 7 positions away.

For each placement in which you are exactly correct, you will get 40 points. If the horse in that placement is off by one position, you get 30 points. By two positions, you get 25 points, for three positions, you get 20 points, by four positions, you get 15 points, by five positions you get 10 points, by six positions, you get 5 points, by seven positions a push or break even 0 points, by eight positions -5 points, by nine positions -10 points, by ten positions -15 points, by eleven positions -20 points, by eleven positions -25 points, by 12 positions -30 points, and more than 12 positions is -40 points. For example, if Dunkirk finishes fifth, and you have him selected for second, that is three positions away, and you get 20 points. If Dunkirk finishes ninth, and you have him second, Dunkirk nets you zero points.

For predicting the winner perfectly, you get 50 bonus points.

For predicting the winner perfect, and the second place finisher perfect, you get 75 more bonus points added onto the 50.

For predicting the last place finisher correct, you also get 50 bonus points.

For predicting the last, and also the second from last finisher correct, you get 75 more bonus points added onto that 50.

For predicting a winner who runs last, or also a last place horse who runs first, you get -100 points.

These are all -50 points. Predicting one to run first who runs second or third from last. Predicting one to run second who runs last or second from last. Predicting one to run third who finishes last. Predicting one to run last who runs second, third, or fourth. Predicting one to run second from last who wins or takes second. Predicting one to run third from last who runs first or second.

Try to beat my styxpix for starters. Whoever gets the most points gets the win and bragging rights.

  1. I was going to correct "Miss that Bird" in your post, but I missed "That Bird" too. I thought his only hope was that wide trips had accounted for his lackluster career and Calvin could overcome that with his signature rail trip. But I didn't believe it even for a second...or even for a two dollar bet's worth

Minus 100 points for me right there. The rest was a disaster as well.
